zzusis Portal Browser Requirements

End User Workstation Requirements

These settings listed below will provide the best user experience for the zzusis system (zzusis.wsu.edu) and ensure all portal services will work as expected.

The zzusis system is powered by Peoplesoft-Oracle software. In order to use the zzusis portal, your work and/or personal computer must meet minimum hardware and software requirements. Your department IT support staff or the WSU ITS Help Desk 509-335-HELP (4357) should be able to assist you with any questions you have about these requirements.

Web Browser and Client Operating System Certifications

The following combinations of web (internet) browser and client operating systems will work with zzusis:

Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT 4 are no longer supported by Microsoft. Peoplesoft-Oracle no longer recommends these operating systems.

Settings for best user-experience:

The following end-user browser settings provide best-use options for both the casual user of zzusis Portal and the power user. In order to ensure optimal performance when using zzusis Portal, we recommend following these suggested settings for web browser.

These settings provide the best user experience for the zzusis Portal system (zzusis.wsu.edu) and ensure all portal services will work as expected. Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7 and up are the only officially supported Browsers.

Deleting Cache and Cookies

  • Select the Tools menu
  • Select Clear Recent History
  • Make sure that the Time range to clear pull-down menu is set to Everything and all boxes are checked
  • Select the Clear Now button
  • Close and re-open the browser

Allowing Popups from WSU site

  • Select the Tools menu
  • Select Options
  • Select the Content tab
  • Select the Exceptions button next to the Block pop-up widows section
  • Add the following to the Address of website field: *.wsu.edu
  • Select the Allow button
  • Select the OK button back on the main options window

Deleting Cache and Cookies

  • Select the Safari menu located at the upper right hand corner of your screen
  • Select Empty Cache
  • When asked if you are sure you want to empty the cache select the Empty button
  • Select the Safari menu located at the upper right hand corner of your screen
  • Select Preferences
  • Select the Security tab
  • Select the Show Cookies button
  • Select Remove All
  • Select Done
  • Close and re-open the browser

Disabling the Popup Blocker

  • Select the Safari menu located at the upper right hand corner of your screen
  • Select Preferences
  • Select the Security tab
  • Uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows

These settings provide the best user experience for the zzusis Portal system (zzusis.wsu.edu) and ensure all portal services will work as expected.

Deleting Cache and Cookies

  • Select the Tools menu (wrench icon) from the upper right hand corner of the screen
  • Select Options from the Tools menu
  • On the Under the Hood tab, in the Privacy area, select the Clear browsing data… button
  • Select the Clear browsing data button at the bottom of the window
  • Close and reopen the browser

Disabling the Popup Blocker

  • Select the Tools menu (wrench icon) from the upper right hand corner of the screen
  • Select Options from the Tools menu
  • On the Under the Hood tab, in the Privacy area, select the Clear browsing data… button
  • Select Pop-ups from the Features: menu
  • Select Allow sites to show pop-ups or click on the Exceptions… button to add an exception for zzusis.

  • Select the Tools menu from the upper right hand corner of the screen
  • Select Internet Options from the Tools menu
  • On the General tab, in the Browser History area, select the Delete button
  • Select the Delete All button at the bottom of the window
  • Close and reopen the browser

Disabling the Popup Blocker

  • Select the Tools menu from the upper right hand corner of the screen
  • Highlight the Pop-up Blocker section of the Tools menu
  • Select Turn off pop-up blocker

Enabling mixed content

  • Go to Tools and select Internet Options
  • Go to the Advanced tab
  • Ensure that "Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode" is unchecked

Adding WSU sites as 'trusted'

  • Go to Tools and select Internet Options
  • Go to the Security tab and select the green check mark labled Trusted Sites
  • Select the button below the trusted sites box that says Sites
  • Add the sites to be trusted and select Add

Deleting Cache and Cookies

  • Select the Tools menu from the upper right hand corner of the screen
  • Select Internet Options
  • Under Browsing history select the Delete button
  • In the Delete Browsing History menu, make sure all boxes but the top one are checked
  • Select the Delete button
  • Close and reopen the browser

Disabling the Popup Blocker

  • Select the Tools menu from the upper right hand corner of the screen
  • Select Internet Options
  • Select the Privacy tab
  • Under the Pop-up Blocker section, uncheck the check box next to 'Turn on the Pop-up Blocker'
  • Scroll just over half way down the available options to find Display mixed content and set that to Enable

Enabling mixed content

  • Go to the Tools Menu on the upper right hand corner of the IE window
  • Select Internet Options
  • Select the Security tab
  • In the section labeled Security level for this zone, select the Custom level... button

Adding WSU sites as 'trusted'

  • Go to the Tools Menu on the upper right hand corner of the IE window
  • Select Internet Options
  • Select the Privacy tab
  • In the Settings section, select the Sites button
  • In the Address of website: field enter ".wsu.edu" manually and select Allow
