Providing Safe Habitats For Orphan Chimps
At Ngamba Island in Uganda and Tchimpounga Sanctuary in the Republic of Congo, Jane Goodall Institute chimpanzee sanctuaries provide safe and loving habitats for nearly 160 orphan chimpanzees who are virtually all victims of the illegal commercial bushmeat and pet trades. The sanctuaries also create local jobs and serve as centers of conservation, environmental education, and development activities in local communities.
